Why Play ATB FAQs

This page of the Arlington Travel Basketball website includes FAQs associated why players should participate in the ATB program.

What Are the Advantages of Playing on an ATB Team?
Arlington Travel teams offer players more intense basketball challenges and instruction.  Compared to house league teams, Arlington Travel offers:

  • Excellent Practice Situations.  Travel teams practice 2-3 times per week, often in gyms reserved for only one team.
  • Good Coaching.  Taking advantage of extra practice time afforded the travel teams; Arlington travel coaches are able to offer players more instruction on individual and team fundamentals.
  • Top Competition.  Travel team players build confidence by competing against some of the best competition in the northern Virginia area.  The best players in the area are almost always on an FCYBL team before entering high school.  One of the best known FCYBL alumni is Grant Hill.
  • Flexibility.  Travel players can have an exceptional winter basketball experience and still participate in other spring and summer basketball teams.
  • Organization.  FCYBL is an established and well organized league.  Regular league games give families a fixed schedule of games, with solid refereeing and league management.
  • Value.  Gym time is at a premium in the winter basketball season, and Arlington Travel players are able to get a large amount of practice and game time for a reasonable price during this popular basketball season.
