Arlington Travel Basketball (ATB) is a member of the Fairfax County Youth Basketball League (FCYBL). Girls and boys residing in Arlington are eligble to play on a ATB team; non-Arlington residents are ineligible.

Coach Vidal has been an Arlington Travel Basketball coach since 2008, primarily with 5th grade boys teams. He has also coached boys and girls AAU teams.

Nick Stern

Assistant Coach

This is Coach Nick’s first season coaching for Arlington Travel Basketball. He played for ATB for four years and then at Flint Hill School, where he was a three time member of the varsity team. Coach Nick is looking forward to providing the same positive experience that he had to the players in the program now.

Kevin Farrell

Head Coach

Coach Kevin is also the ATB Boys Commissioner. He has coached in the organization for several years, and his teams’ accomplishments include a FCYBL regular season championship and post season tournament finalists. Coach Farrell believes sport at its best allows us to play- which promotes freedom, creativity and joy. He will prompt his teams to compete, and play Hard, Smart and Together. He aspires to teach and inspire his student-athletes to excel in the sport, and help them realize the best versions of themselves while connecting authentically with their teammates, values, and community.

David Maher

Assistant Coach

Coach Dave is one of the founders of Arlington Travel Basketball, and has served in many roles including president, commissioner, coach, assistant coach, number one fan and overall friend to the program. Coach Dave brings two main goals to every group of athletes he coaches. The first goal is to prepare that group for the next level of competition, whatever that is. The second goal is to make the experience challenging, rewarding, and fun, so the players are excited about the next level of competition. One of the most rewarding things Coach Dave does it to go to local high school and college games and watch former ATB athletes compete at the next level.

Dave has coached boys and girls from the 5th grade through High School Varsity.

Nicko Escherick

Head Coach

Coach Nicko Escherick is a born and raised Arlingtonian. He attended ATS, Swanson Middle and Yorktown High School, where he was a two year varsity player and the starting point guard. Previously, he coached the 5B Travel team, and was also a coach for the AAU Program “Team Pro Look” at the 15U level this past summer.

Coach Heitham has coached Arlington Travel Basketball for seven seasons.

Chris Romasco

Head Coach

This is Coach Chris Romasco’s first year with ATB. He played basketball at Allegheny College, and before that was a standout at Sutton High School- he played varsity for four years, competed in AAU national championship tournaments, and was selected as All State his junior at senior year. He still holds the high school record for most three-pointers (9) in a game, and consecutive free throws (43). Chris’s father, Steven Romasco, was one of the most winningest high school basketball coaches in Massachusetts.

Coach Lowen has been a patron and coach for ATB for 20 years, with experience at all grades. His teams have won several FCYBL championships and been FCYBL runner-ups. Martin has been awarded the FCYBL Most Valuable Coach in four seasons;

This is Coach Will’s fourth winter coaching with ATB; and he also coached 2017 6th grade boys ATB Spring team. He also coaches Arlington Recreational hoops league; and in the Arlington Youth Flag Football- leading 2 select teams that competed in the NFL Flag Football regional tournaments

This is Ben’s fifth year with ATB; 12 seasons of total coaching experience, including basketball and soccer; Played JV basketball at James Madison University

Head Coach

Coach Matt has been coaching youth sports for 20 years, including 3 seasons with Arlington Travel Basketball and 4 years of Spring AAU basketball. Hi goal is for every one of his players to love basketball and make their high school basketball team.

Louie Horvath

Assistant Coach

Coach Louie grew up in Arlington and is a proud ATB alumus. He played varsity basketball for a St. Stephen’s and St. Agnes that finished third in Virginia in 2007. He attended the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, where he pursued a sports writing career and covered the UNC men’s and women’s basketball teams, among others. He has coached AAU for three years, and is thrilled to be back with ATB this year.

This is Coach Justin’s 3rd year with ATB; 6 years of FCYBL Select coaching experience (boys grades 5-8); 4 times awarded FCYBL Most Valuable Coach 5th grade (D2) x2, 7th grade (D2), 8th grade (D1); 4 years summer AAU coaching experience; 2 FCYBL Championships; 2 BRYC Holiday Championships; 1 Stars Summer Championship; numerous weekend tournament championships; 25 years of coaching experience, including basketball, baseball, rugby and soccer.

Coach Dave is a former high school player, with 15 years of experience coaching youth basketball. This is his first year coaching with ATB.

This is Coach Vint’s tenth year with ATB, coaching girls and boys. He also volunteered to coach for 6 years with Matrix AAU Girls, including a 4th place finish at AAU Nationals; For nearly 20 years he coached East Prince William Basketball Association Boys. Coach Vint also has 5 years coaching experience with Arlington Flag Football Boys and Girls.

Coach Ralph is a second year coach for Arlington Travel Basketball. He has experience coaching as an assistant coach on the high school level as well as AAU unsigned seniors. He is well versed in the game of basketball, and emphasizes developing fundamentals for all-around success. The quote that he instills in his players is “Hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard.”

Kendra Robins Ervin

Head Coach

Kendra played collegiate basketball at Emory University. In addition to being a three-year letter winner contributing to Emory’s women’s basketball program as a point guard/shooting guard, Kendra was an All-American javelin thrower for the Emory track and field team. Kendra grew up in Virginia Beach, Virginia, and played basketball for Norfolk Academy, where she was a three-time first team all-conference selection and a 1000+ point scorer.  While in high school, Kendra played for the Boo Williams AAU team. Prior to attending law school, Kendra served as an assistant women’s basketball coach at Virginia Wesleyan College and also was the assistant JV coach at Norfolk Academy from 2002-2003.

Elizabeth Kauffman

Head Coach

Lizz is a native of Philadelphia and played high school basketball at Archbishop Carroll, a powerhouse in the elite Philadelphia Catholic League, and AAU basketball with the [Philadelphia Lady Runnin' Rebels]. She went on to play at the University of Richmond (Division I), where she was a full scholarship athlete, four year letter winner, and [two year] team co-captain. Lizz spent her summers working at Strive/Sports Challenge Leadership Program and is a Positive Coaching Alliance certified coach. She has a B.A. in Leadership Studies from the University of Richmond and a Masters of Teaching from Virginia Commonwealth University. After graduating, Lizz became the head varsity basketball and volleyball coach at St. Catherine's School in Richmond, VA. She was an elementary school teacher for ten years before staying home to raise her three girls. In addition to her experience coaching high school varsity basketball, Lizz has coached a number of elementary and middle school aged teams.

This is Creed’s 3rd year with ATB and 2nd as a Head Coach. In the 2019-2020 ATB season, he was on the coaching staff that won Coach of the Year and advanced to the FCYBL 6th Grade Girls Championship Game. He focuses his coaching on enhancing fundamentals and developing core skills. Creed also coaches Basketball and Flag for the Virginia Hurricanes AAU Club.
